Education & Experience

Key Responsibilities: • Personal Care: Assisting patients with washing, dressing, toileting, and other hygiene-related tasks. • Mobility Assistance: Helping patients move around, transfer in and out of bed, and use mobility aids. • Monitoring Patient Conditions: Taking vital signs like temperature, pulse, and respiration, and recording observations in patient records. • Feeding and Hydration: Assisting patients with meals and ensuring they have access to adequate fluids. • Emotional Support: Providing companionship, reassurance, and a listening ear to patients. • Maintaining a Safe Environment: Keeping the ward or patient’s living space tidy, ensuring equipment is clean, and reporting any safety concerns. • Following Care Plans: Adhering to specific care plans and instructions provided by nurses and other healthcare professionals. • Communication: Communicating effectively with patients, their families, and other members of the healthcare team. • Clinical Support: Assisting with basic clinical tasks, such as dressing wounds or taking blood samples, under the supervision of qualified staff (this can vary by setting and experience). • Record Keeping: Accurately maintaining patient records and documentation. Essential Skills: • Caring and Compassionate Nature: A genuine desire to care for others and provide comfort. • Communication Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues. • Observation Skills: The ability to notice changes in a patient’s condition and report them promptly. • Physical Stamina: The role requires physical activity, including lifting and moving patients. • Teamwork Skills: Working effectively as part of a healthcare team. • Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to respond to unexpected situations and find solutions.
